“What I love is that the mantras reach us when we need them, they come into our lives when we are open to them. They are such strong medicine that we don’t need to even understand them for them to work, it’s like taking the right medicine – you don’t have to know about chemistry for the medicine to work.”
~ Deva Premal
Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been chanting for lifetimes, join Julia Berkeley (harmonium and vocals) and Leonice Shinneman (tabla and percussion) in the never-ending discovery of the medicine that is mantra. Enjoy a delicious evening of music, community and song that will clear away the cobwebs of your mind, ignite your heart’s light, and bring you into the unending source of joy that resides within you.
What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is a call and response chanting practice that moves the heart towards an experience of inner silence, boundless love, and intimate union with the Divine. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been doing it forever this practice will uplift your heart and soul. Krishna Das says “The ability to sing beautifully is enjoyable, but not necessary. What matters is singing from the heart.” You don’t need to be able to sing, just be willing to give it a go and feel the effects!
